UGREEN has introduced a local-first smart home ecosystem centered on the HomeAgent platform. The flagship unit, priced at nearly $20,000, aims to replace cloud services with on-device AI processing.
UGREEN used IFA 2026 to shift its focus from charging accessories to a comprehensive smart home platform. The centerpiece is the HomeAgent system, which bundles AI processing, storage, and security into a single local-first setup. This approach eliminates the need for cloud dependency, keeping camera feeds and voice data within the household.
The headline product is the MasterAgent MA100, which carries a list price of $19,999. While this cost rivals that of a used vehicle, the hardware is substantial. It features Nvidia’s Jetson Thor T5000 chip, 128GB of high-speed memory, and a 256GB solid-state drive. This configuration functions more like a dedicated AI workstation than a standard smart hub.
Local Processing Reduces Cloud Costs
The primary advantage of this architecture is data privacy. By processing information locally, users avoid ongoing cloud storage fees and reduce the risk of external data breaches. According to GN technics/smarthome (en-US), this setup is designed for complex automations that require heavy computational power without sending sensitive household data to remote servers.
Mid-Range Options Offer Lower Entry
For those deterred by the flagship price, UGREEN offers the HA100 and HA100 Pro models. These units range between $1,800 and $6,000, positioning them as enthusiast-grade home servers rather than small business capital expenses. The ecosystem also includes a voice assistant speaker, a digital photo frame, and security cameras, all connected via the Matter standard to support third-party devices.
Niche Market Faces Skepticism
The MA100 is not intended for the average consumer. It serves as a high-end demonstration of capability while the mid-range models target the broader market. Early units are launching via Kickstarter, where early-bird discounts may improve the value proposition. However, it remains unclear whether households will prioritize local AI processing over established cloud-based solutions, given the significant upfront investment required.
