World Launches Self-Custodial Super App in 150 Countries

World Money is live in over 150 countries, offering self-custody stablecoin payments and digital asset rewards.
World launched World Money on Thursday in more than 150 countries. The new application provides self-custody for digital assets and stablecoin payments. Users can send supported assets to a recipient’s World username. They can also deposit eligible assets to earn rewards. The platform allows users to buy and sell digital assets through integrated exchanges.
A partnership with Stripe enables account funding via Apple Pay in the US. Users can buy stablecoins directly with their mobile payment methods. The app includes access to third-party “Mini Apps” like Kalshi, Credit, and Morpho. Features vary by location due to local regulatory requirements.
Identity and financial services split
World divided its operations into two dedicated applications. The World ID App now handles identity verification and credentials. World Money manages wallets, payments, and financial services. Existing users can transfer their accounts to the new platform. This separation clarifies the distinct functions of identity and finance.
Timeline of platform expansion
World App launched in May 2023 with a crypto wallet and stablecoin transfers. In October 2024, version 3.0 added third-party apps and a Vault feature. In November 2025, the company piloted virtual bank accounts in the US. These accounts convert paychecks and bank deposits into USDC. The rollout expanded to more countries one month after the pilot.
Operated by Tools for Humanity
Tools for Humanity operates the World Money platform. The company was co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania. It develops technology for the World network. According to GN auto markets/crypto: digital asset, the launch marks a significant step in self-custody adoption. The move integrates financial tools into a unified super app experience.
