Costco raises the price of its top-selling motor oil to $58 and caps weekly purchases. Brent crude exceeds $109 as geopolitical tensions drive refinery costs higher.

Costco increased the price of its Kirkland Signature full-synthetic motor oil to approximately $58. The previous price was around $30. The retailer now limits customers to two two-quart packs per week.

Mobil 1 six-pack units are priced at $44. Purchase limits apply at five units per membership. GasBuddy analysts describe these limits as reasonable for individual drivers. Fleet managers face tighter constraints.

Crude Oil Prices Hit New Highs

Brent crude surpassed $109 per barrel on Monday. This marks the highest level in months. Geopolitical instability in the Middle East drives supply risks. Attacks on Saudi infrastructure disrupt pipeline operations.

Ukrainian drone strikes target Russian refineries. These events reduce global supply. Refined products follow crude oil price movements. Diesel and gasoline prices rise in tandem.

Consumer Fuel Costs Climb

The national average for regular gasoline is $4.31 per gallon. This is up from $3.17 last year. Diesel averages $6.23 per gallon. This sets a new record high.

Refiners prioritize high-margin fuel production over lubricants. Motor oil remains a lower priority for output. Retailers may adjust prices based on supply availability. Walmart and Amazon have not confirmed similar changes.
