The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose to $6.075 on Saturday. This is the 32nd consecutive day of price increases. The current level is the highest recorded since May 12. The price climbed 2 cents from the previous day. Over the last 32 days, the average cost has risen by 55.5 cents.

Drivers in Riverside County are paying 17.1 cents more than one week ago. The price is 54.8 cents higher than one month ago. Compared to one year ago, the cost is up by $1.469. These figures come from the Automobile Club of Southern California and the Oil Price Information Service. The trend continues despite some fluctuations in crude oil markets.

Geopolitical Conflict Drives Costs Up

The average price has increased by $1.524 since February 28. This date marks the start of the joint U.S. and Israel military action against Iran. The conflict sent international oil prices higher. Kandace Redd, a senior public affairs specialist for the Automobile Club of Southern California, noted that supply concerns are impacting pump prices. California imports a significant amount of oil from the Middle East. This makes the state particularly vulnerable to these supply shocks.

Redd stated that oil prices have dropped somewhat from earlier in the week. However, she said a significant further drop is needed to lower local pump prices. The national average price rose for the 19th time in the last 20 days. It increased by 0.7 cents to reach $4.475. The national average is now 16.5 cents higher than a week ago.

National Averages Also Surge

The national average price has risen by 39.8 cents over the past 20 days. This includes a 3-cent increase on Friday. The current national average is 38.9 cents higher than one month ago. It is $1.276 more than the price one year ago. Since the conflict began, the national average has climbed by $1.493.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, confirmed that current prices are at their highest for this time of year. GasBuddy tracks real-time prices from over 150,000 stations. The data from GN auto markets/energy: gasoline prices shows a consistent upward trend. The gap between national and local prices remains significant. Consumers in California continue to face the highest costs in the country.
