Riverside County Gas Hits $6.09 After 33-Day Surge

The average price of regular gasoline in Riverside County reached $6.093, marking the highest level since May 8. This represents a 33-day consecutive increase.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose for the 33rd consecutive day. Sunday’s average increased by 1.8 cents to reach $6.093. This is the highest recorded amount in the region since May 8.

According to data from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the local price has climbed 57.3 cents over the past month. The current level is 17.4 cents higher than one week ago. It stands 55.8 cents above the level from one month prior and $1.486 higher than one year ago.

Regional Prices Outpace National Trends

The national average price rose for the 20th time in 21 days. The increase was minimal, adding one-tenth of a cent to reach $4.476. Over the same 21-day period, the national average has risen by 39.9 cents.

Nationwide, prices are 16.3 cents higher than a week ago. They are 37.2 cents higher than a month ago and $1.287 higher than a year ago. The national average is currently at its highest level for this time of the calendar year.

Geopolitical Conflict Drives Cost Increases

The average price in Riverside County has increased by $1.542 since February 28. This date marks the start of the joint U.S. and Israel military action against Iran. This conflict sent global oil prices higher and accelerated pump price increases.

The national average price has also risen by $1.494 since the conflict began. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, confirms the current national peak. His firm tracks real-time prices from over 150,000 stations.
