Iran Dollar Rate Rises to 1,634,132 Rials

The official US dollar rate in Iran increased by nearly 0.3 percent. The black market spread widened significantly against official channels.

The official exchange rate for one US dollar in Iran rose to 1,634,132 rials on September 12. This figure marks a 0.3 percent increase from the previous trading day. The Central Bank of Iran published these rates alongside data for 46 other currencies.

The euro was valued at 1,894,334 rials in the official channel. This represents a slight decline from 1,896,018 rials on September 10. Thirty-three currencies appreciated in value, while thirteen depreciated against the rial.

Official rates show mixed currency performance

The British pound climbed to 2,209,289 rials. The Swiss franc fell to 2,002,472 rials. The Russian ruble strengthened to 19,395 rials, up from 19,065 rials two days prior.

The Kazakh tenge saw the largest relative gain among tracked currencies. One hundred tenge was valued at 362,480 rials. This was a jump from 357,848 rials on September 10.

Black market spread exceeds 40 percent

Unofficial markets priced the US dollar between 2.36 million and 2.39 million rials. The euro traded between 2.74 million and 2.77 million rials. The gap between official and black market rates remains substantial.

The Central Bank uses the SANA system for designated exchange offices. These offices operate at the official rates cited above. The divergence highlights persistent pressure on the currency.
