West Woods Decides Jeffco League Golf Titles for 5A and 4A

The first full day of fall, Tuesday, Sept. 22, brought the season to a close at West Woods Golf Club in Arvada. The fairways held the final Jeffco League tournament, a decisive round that settled both team and individual honors for the boys golf program.
Valor Christian freshman Drew Kettler posted the low round of the day, carding a 3-under-par 69. He edged Arvada West senior Collin Portie by a single stroke, but the margin was tight enough to shift the broader standings in a different direction.
Portie secures repeat individual title
Portie’s round of 70 was sufficient to surpass Columbine junior Connor Young for the 5A Jeffco individual medalist title. The senior finished with a season total of 344 strokes across six league events, dropping his highest score. Young trailed by three strokes with a 347, while Kettler settled into third place with a 348.
Ralston Valley dominates team standings
Ralston Valley cruised to the 5A Jeffco team title, establishing a massive 48-stroke margin of victory over second-place Columbine. Despite lacking an individual finisher in the top three, the Mustangs relied on depth. Senior Noah Ramsey and sophomore Liam Braketa placed fourth and fifth, respectively, while Chatfield junior Ryder Hurley took sixth.
4A and 3A results finalize
In the 4A/3A division, Conifer junior Zane Arndt posted the low round of 76, a stroke better than Golden senior Johnny Kirkpatrick and Wheat Ridge senior Noah Weil. Dakota Ridge senior Jax Orr held on to win the 4A medalist title with a 73.8 scoring average. Golden’s Cooper Buchholz, Nick Goodspeed, and Logan Miller finished in the top-10 to lift the Demons to the team title.
According to Colorado Preps, the CHSAA state tournaments are scheduled for Oct. 5 and 6. The 5A meet will be held at Columbine Country Club, the 4A meet at Lone Tree Golf Club, and the 3A meet at Cattails Golf Course in Alamosa.
