Sandisk Joins S&P 100 Ahead of Record AI Revenue Quarter

Sandisk shares surged on its upcoming S&P 100 inclusion, following a fiscal fourth quarter where revenue exploded 372% year-over-year on strong AI memory demand.
Sandisk (NASDAQ: SNDK) shares climbed 7.5% in midday trading on Friday, driven by its impending elevation to the S&P 100 index. The semiconductor maker is set to replace Colgate-Palmolive in the elite subset of the S&P 500 before Monday’s opening bell. This move is expected to trigger mechanical buying from index-tracking funds, a dynamic highlighted in recent market data from GN stocks/sp500.
The inclusion follows a period of exceptional financial performance for the chipmaker. For the fiscal 2026 fourth quarter ending July 3, Sandisk reported revenue of $8.97 billion, a 372% increase year-over-year and a 51% jump sequentially. Diluted earnings per share reached $43.97, swinging from a loss in the same period last year and rising 91% from the previous quarter.
AI demand drives record quarterly results
The surge in revenue and profit is directly attributed to unprecedented demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Sandisk’s ability to capture this demand resulted in a significant margin expansion, evidenced by the shift from a prior-year loss to a high-single-digit EPS figure. The company’s valuation now stands at 24 times trailing earnings and 8 times forward earnings, reflecting investor confidence in its current earnings trajectory.
Index inclusion boosts institutional visibility
Being added to the S&P 100, a subset of the largest and most established U.S. companies, provides Sandisk with a stamp of institutional approval. While the immediate effect is passive fund inflow, the long-term benefit lies in increased visibility among institutional buyers who prioritize stability and prestige. This membership satisfies key liquidity and profitability requirements, positioning Sandisk alongside other blue-chip names in the broader market benchmark.
Valuation reflects strong forward earnings
With forward earnings priced at just 8 times, Sandisk appears attractively valued relative to its growth rate. The company’s operational performance, characterized by the massive year-over-year revenue growth, underpins this valuation. As the S&P 100 inclusion takes effect, the market is focusing on whether Sandisk can sustain this level of AI-driven demand while maintaining its improved profitability metrics.
