Enghouse Systems reported Q3 2026 revenue of $117.6 million, driven by cost cuts that lifted EBITDA margins to 26.2% despite year-over-year sales declines.

Enghouse Systems Ltd (EGHSF) reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $117.6 million, a sequential increase from $114.3 million in the second quarter but a decrease from $125.6 million in the same period last year. The company attributed the year-over-year decline to ongoing pressure in the contact center market and specific software line items, while citing stronger software sales and favorable foreign exchange effects for the sequential improvement. According to data from GN markets/earnings (en-US), recurring revenue remained stable at approximately 69.5% of total sales, providing a consistent base for the business.

Profitability improved significantly as operating expenses, excluding special charges, fell to $45.7 million from $49.9 million in the prior year period. This cost discipline resulted in adjusted EBITDA rising to $30.8 million from $26.5 million in the previous quarter. Consequently, the EBITDA margin expanded to 26.2%, up from 23.2% in Q2 and slightly above the 25.7% recorded a year earlier. The company also booked a $4.6 million restructuring charge, the largest of the fiscal year, with benefits expected to phase in over future quarters.

Segment Performance Drives Profit Growth

Both major business segments contributed to the profit expansion. The Asset Management Group generated $53 million in revenue, down from $55.9 million a year ago, but its segment profit increased to approximately $18.5 million from $15.3 million in Q2. Meanwhile, the Interactive Management Group saw revenue rise to $64.6 million from $62.8 million in the prior quarter, with segment profit climbing to roughly $21.5 million from $18.5 million. Management noted that churn moderated during the period, and while declines in Lifesize and Qumu products continued, the magnitude of these losses reduced compared to earlier periods.

Cash flow remained robust, with operating cash flow before working capital changes and income taxes reaching $28.4 million. Enghouse Systems ended the quarter with $267.8 million in cash, cash equivalents, and short-term investments, maintaining a debt-free balance sheet. The company returned $24.4 million to shareholders during the quarter through $16.9 million in dividends and $7.5 million in share repurchases. Following the quarter end, the board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.31 per common share.

Forward Outlook Remains Cautious

Looking ahead, management indicated that mid-20s EBITDA margins are a more realistic target than the current quarter's peak. The global business environment remains uncertain due to geopolitical tensions and evolving trade dynamics, which continue to impact customer spending. Monetizing artificial intelligence investments remains challenging, as customer interest has not yet translated into significant revenue uptake. Additionally, no new acquisitions were completed in the quarter, as private market valuations remain at a premium to public market levels, limiting opportunities for inorganic growth.

The contact center market remains difficult, with major competitors in financial difficulty engaging in aggressive pricing to survive, which suppresses margins across the sector. Maintenance revenue also remained below prior-year levels. While the company continues to manage costs effectively, the combination of competitive pressure and slow AI monetization suggests that future growth will rely heavily on operational efficiency rather than rapid top-line expansion.
