A single large facility can place substantial additional demand on the water supply of a smaller community. In response to these growing concerns, a majority of Americans support regulatory action. The survey found that about six in ten respondents favor limiting the number of new data centers that can be built. Additionally, roughly two-thirds support requirements for data centers to use clean energy sources, such as wind or solar power. This indicates a strong public preference for balancing technological growth with environmental responsibility.

The findings underscore a growing divide between rapid technological expansion and environmental stewardship. As AI continues to evolve, the pressure on policymakers to implement sustainable practices will likely intensify. The community's stance is clear: growth must be managed to prevent undue harm to local resources and infrastructure.
