A Belgian startup is pitching a modular electric motorcycle that aims to replace the family car for urban and short-haul trips. The LUV1, developed by ANY Mobility, blends the profile of a scooter with the cargo capacity of a small utility vehicle, all on a two-wheel platform that can lean into corners.
The core appeal is flexibility. Riders can swap battery units, change front-end configurations, and add various cargo modules to suit different needs. However, the vehicle is not yet ready for purchase, with production scheduled to begin only in late 2027.
Versatile design serves multiple roles
The LUV1 is built on a two-piece aluminum platform that folds down to a compact size, fitting into a storage space of about 120 liters. This allows it to be parked in tight urban spaces or stored inside a standard apartment, a significant advantage over larger cars or bulky cargo bikes.
The design, led by a former Pininfarina director, avoids the clunky look of typical delivery vehicles. Instead, it features clean surfaces and a deliberate, chunky cargo area. Depending on the configuration, the bike can function as a sleek commuter, a weather-protected family hauler, or an open adventure machine.
Power and range meet practical limits
An 11-kilowatt rear-hub motor drives the bike, capping its top speed at 100 km/h (62 mph). The powertrain runs on swappable 6.5-kWh battery units, which deliver a range between 100 and 132 kilometers (62 to 87 miles). Recharging these batteries takes between 2.5 and 4 hours, though swapping them offers a quicker alternative for riders with access to replacement packs.
The bike can carry a payload of 50 kilograms (110 lb) plus two riders. Standard features include all-LED lighting, keyless start, and single-channel ABS. Traction control is available as an optional add-on, and the seat height is set at 786 mm (31 inches), making it accessible for a wide range of rider heights.
Preorders open before production starts
ANY Mobility is accepting reservations with a €499 deposit for the first 200 units. The expected starting price is around €8,500, or approximately $9,750. This positions the LUV1 in a competitive bracket with other premium electric two-wheelers, such as the Maeving RM1S, though it offers distinct utility benefits.
The main catch is timing. As reported by New Atlas, the company notes that the current online configuration is indicative and subject to change because the bike has not entered the production stage. Customers must wait until late 2027 to receive their vehicles, meaning the technology and market conditions may shift before delivery.
