The leaker stated that the AT2 GPU will indeed pack 70 compute units. Compute units are the basic building blocks of a graphics processor. They handle the math required to render images and run games. More units generally allow for higher frame rates and smoother visuals.
Mid-range performance gains expected
Current RDNA 4 graphics cards max out at 64 compute units. The flagship model among them is the RX 9070 XT. Moving from 64 to 70 units represents a 9% increase in core count. This boost provides a baseline performance uplift before other architectural improvements are considered.
Rumors also suggest the new chip may run at higher clock speeds. Frequencies between 3.1 and 3.4 GHz have been mentioned. Additionally, the card likely uses GDDR7 memory. This type of memory offers more data bandwidth than the GDDR6 found in current models.
Larger flagship chip remains in plans
