The decision follows a year of personal bests. Taşbaşı placed third in the 200-meter breaststroke at the Turkish National Championships. His time of 2:16.38 signaled a surge in performance that caught recruiters' eyes.
A Surge in National Performance
April brought a breakthrough at the Turkish Junior Nationals. Taşbaşı set lifetime bests in three events. He finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.61. Third place in the 100 breast followed, clocked at 1:02.89.
May sharpened these marks further. At the senior national meet, he improved his 200 breast time to 2:16.38. The 100 breast dropped to 1:02.80, while the 50 breast hit 28.86. Each race produced a new personal best.
Transatlantic Training and Family Roots
Taşbaşı trains with Galatasaray Sports Club in Istanbul. He also represents ZPC Amersfoort in the Netherlands. This dual affiliation allows him to compete on two fronts. His recent Dutch Nationals results included a 15th-place finish in the 200 breast.

Joining the Mustangs Roster
