H&MV Engineering has selected Dallas, Texas, as its North American headquarters. The choice of Dallas is a pragmatic response to the geographic distribution of US data center projects, many of which are concentrated in the South and Midwest.

Ken Gilmartin, the company’s Executive Vice President for the US, emphasized that the new base allows for better coordination of complex projects. It facilitates access to the specialized workforce needed for high-voltage electrical work, which requires rigorous training and experience. This local presence is expected to reduce project timelines and improve communication with clients across the region.

Bridging the AI Power Gap

The core of this expansion is the construction of high-voltage substations and grid connections. These facilities are essential for transferring electricity from generation sources to end-users, including the massive data centers powering AI models. The company is currently managing projects ranging from 138kV to 345kV, primarily in Texas and Louisiana, which are seeing the highest demand for new infrastructure.

While AI is the primary driver, the demand extends to broader energy projects. Investment in renewable energy and battery storage is also creating a need for new high-voltage infrastructure. H&MV Engineering positions itself as a key player in this dual trend, providing the physical backbone for both digital expansion and the transition to cleaner energy sources.

This US expansion is backed by significant global financial growth. The company’s revenue has surged from $70 million in 2020 to over $1.1 billion in 2026. A recent investment transaction valued the firm at approximately $1.6 billion, providing the long-term capital necessary to support its international ambitions. This financial stability allows H&MV Engineering to invest in talent and technology without the pressure of short-term profitability.

However, the trade-off for this rapid growth is the intense competition for skilled labor. The 1,000 new roles will span electrical engineering, commissioning, and project management.
