Enterprises are increasingly struggling with IT infrastructure that is scattered across multiple clouds, sites, and vendors. Nearby Computing has secured a €680,000 investment from the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation to address this fragmentation. The funding is part of a larger €1.4 million financing round designed to scale the company’s orchestration platform.

The core problem is that managing these distributed systems manually no longer scales. As infrastructure moves into retail stores, energy grids, and telecom networks, companies face high hidden costs from trying to control everything piece by piece. Nearby’s solution is a single control plane that automates provisioning and updates across all these disparate environments.

Replacing manual management with automation

Currently, many organizations stitch together separate tools for each part of their infrastructure. This approach is labor-intensive and prone to error. Nearby’s platform uses policy-based automation to handle the work, allowing IT teams to manage the entire environment from one interface. This shift reduces the operational burden and the risk of human error in complex deployments.

Vendor neutrality reduces migration risk

A key feature of the platform is its vendor-agnostic design. It can orchestrate workloads across any hardware, cloud provider, or AI stack. This means companies are not locked into a specific supplier. If a business needs to switch vendors in the future, the transition can be managed without complex and costly migrations, preserving flexibility in the IT stack.

Local resilience during cloud outages

Reliability is built into the architecture. If connectivity to the central cloud fails, critical workloads continue to run locally at the edge. This prevents business-critical processes from halting during disruptions. For sectors like energy and telecommunications, where downtime has immediate financial or safety consequences, this local continuity is a significant operational advantage.

The investment is funded through the Next Tech facility, supported by European Union Next Generation Funds. These funds aim to strengthen the financing ecosystem for deep-tech startups. By backing companies like Nearby, the program supports the development of infrastructure that can handle the growing complexity of modern distributed computing environments.
