Xpeng Expands Tech Licensing to Foreign Automakers

Xpeng is pivoting toward a high-margin technology licensing model by selling its EV and AI components to international partners, a strategy that has already boosted its service margins to over 75% through its alliance with Volkswagen. The company plans to extend this approach to its emerging robotics and robotaxi divisions while continuing its global vehicle expansion.
According to GN auto tech/ev, Xpeng is actively exploring licensing deals with unnamed foreign automakers for its electrical architecture and AI chips, aiming to replicate the high-margin service revenue model it has successfully established with its Volkswagen partnership.
