However, accessing this functionality is tied to higher-tier iCloud Plus storage plans, creating a significant financial barrier for many households.

The new system does not replace the existing HomeKit Secure Video service, which remains available for a lower cost. Instead, the AI enhancements are bundled with larger storage quotas. For a single camera, users must upgrade to the 2TB plan, but for multi-camera setups, the costs escalate rapidly, reaching nearly $60 per month for five devices. This pricing structure marks a sharp departure from the previous entry-level cost of just one dollar per month.

To enable AI summaries for one camera, subscribers need the 2TB iCloud Plus plan, priced at $9.99 monthly. If a user wants to extend this capability to a second camera, the requirement jumps to the 6TB plan at $29.99. For households with up to five cameras, the cost peaks at $59.99 for the 12TB plan. It remains unclear if more than five cameras can be supported under this AI umbrella.

This pricing model creates a trade-off between convenience and cost. While the AI tools offer a more efficient way to monitor home security, the mandatory storage upgrades mean users are paying for data space they may not fully utilize.
