Ultrahuman Adds $4.99 Monthly Fee for US Medical Records

Ultrahuman has introduced a new paid feature for its smart ring users in the United States that connects wearable data with official medical records. The add-on, called the HealthEx Powerplug, costs $4.99 per month and aggregates information from more than 90% of U.S. care providers.

This update transforms the app from a basic fitness tracker into a central hub for health management. It pulls in medication histories, appointment details, and records from past healthcare professionals, aiming to provide a complete view of a user's health journey.

Aggregated medical data improves care continuity

The primary goal of this integration is to reduce delays in healthcare caused by fragmented information. HealthEx CEO Priyanka Agarwal notes that physicians often struggle to piece together a patient's full history during critical moments, which can lead to significant consequences. By consolidating this data, the platform aims to give doctors and patients immediate access to relevant context.

Ultrahuman CEO Mohit Kumar emphasizes that many Americans see multiple providers yearly, often missing key follow-ups because no single entity holds the complete picture. This partnership seeks to place crucial records in one place, adding clinical context to the daily measurements taken by the smart ring.

Subscription model differs from competitor offers

While Whoop also integrated with HealthEx earlier this year, the business models differ significantly. Whoop’s integration is included in its membership, which starts at $199 for a one-year term. In contrast, Ultrahuman’s base ring functionality does not require an ongoing fee, making the $4.99 monthly add-on a distinct extra cost for users who want medical record access.

This pricing structure reflects a broader trend where wearables companies are moving beyond simple activity tracking. By charging for access to deeper health data, Ultrahuman is positioning its ring as a tool for long-term health management rather than just daily fitness monitoring.

Powerplugs expand ring functionality beyond sensors

The HealthEx feature is part of Ultrahuman’s existing Powerplug ecosystem, which offers various add-ons that go beyond what the ring’s sensors can directly measure. For instance, other plugins like Tesla Sync analyze stress levels during driving to suggest optimal car settings.

According to Yahoo Tech, these additions are designed to make data more accessible for users, healthcare providers, and potentially AI tools. However, the relationship between wearable stats and clinical records is often tangential, meaning the value lies primarily in the convenience of having all information in a single interface.
