Russian Drone Strike Hits Kyiv-Warsaw Train Near Polish Border

Russian drone strikes near the Polish border have hit both a truck and a passenger train in Ukraine's Volyn region, prompting Polish authorities to scramble F-16s and other assets to intercept a larger wave of Geran-5 drones. The attacks, which occurred within a few kilometers of the frontier, have intensified security concerns for EU and NATO states amid ongoing widespread strikes on western Ukraine.
Polish officials confirm that fighter jets and airborne early warning aircraft intercepted a swarm of approximately twelve Russian Geran-5 drones detected near the Lublin and Podkarpacie regions, with one impact site located less than a kilometer from the Dorohusk-Yahodyn crossing, according to reports from GN geopolitics/nato. While the Border Guard assures that cross-border traffic remains normal and no injuries were recorded on the Polish side, the incident follows a July breach of Polish airspace by a cruise missile, heightening NATO's vigilance.
