Bank of Georgia claims its AI-native infrastructure has transformed routine banking into instant, automated processes, reducing loan approval times to seconds while expanding into lifestyle services.

Bank of Georgia has shifted its technological focus toward building customer-centric, AI-native infrastructure that aims to eliminate decision friction in daily financial interactions. According to Giorgi Vakhtangishvili, the bank’s chief digital officer, this approach has resulted in a significant operational change where 95% of unsecured loans are now automated and AI-enhanced. The system approves and disburses these loans in under 15 seconds, a speed that contrasts sharply with traditional banking timelines.

This technological shift is reflected in high user engagement, with 53% of customers opening the app daily. Additionally, an embedded generative AI assistant resolves over 78% of customer queries without human intervention, maintaining a 91% satisfaction score. Vakhtangishvili attributes the bank's recent recognition in global digital banking awards to this consistency across the entire technology stack, rather than to any single feature.

Expanding Beyond Traditional Banking Functions

The bank positions its mobile platform as a financial super-app designed to integrate core banking into daily life. Features such as Home Space and Car Space consolidate utilities, bill reminders, and vehicle-related tasks like insurance and fine payments into single hubs. Users can also access over 30 state services, including tax payments and record retrieval, without leaving the application.

On the investment side, the platform allows users to open accounts in under a minute and purchase fractional shares of New York Stock Exchange-listed stocks for as little as one dollar. The same interface supports trading over 100 cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the bank reports that 188,000 schoolchildren use its financial literacy app monthly, aiming to build long-term customer relationships through early education rather than acquiring new users through separate applications.

AI Agents Drive Autonomous Financial Actions

Vakhtangishvili suggests that the primary consumer interface is shifting from static dashboards to autonomous, AI-driven financial agents. Currently, the AI handles the majority of low-stakes, routine actions independently. The bank envisions a future where AI generates the interface itself, assembling tools around the customer's immediate needs rather than forcing users to navigate fixed menus.

Maintaining Trust Through Human Oversight

Despite the push for automation, the bank maintains a clear boundary regarding irreversible or high-stakes transactions. Actions such as large transfers, new credit lines, or investment trades require a human decision, ensuring that trust remains central to the service. Vakhtangishvili argues that trust is the product itself, not merely a feature, and that speed and security are not opposing forces when trust is engineered into the system's core.

This integration of speed and security is exemplified by the bank's partnership with Georgia’s state procurement agency, which reduced the time for issuing bank guarantees from several days to under an hour. According to reporting by GN technics/ai (en-US), this efficiency allows businesses to bid on government tenders faster without compromising the integrity of the financial instrument.
