The agreement marks the first direct meeting between the two leaders and establishes a framework for expanding cooperation in AI data centers, physical AI, and corporate AI transformation. The collaboration centers on the physical requirements of modern AI facilities, specifically cooling and stable power supply. As large-scale GPU operations generate significant heat and power demands, these elements have become bottlenecks in data center expansion. LG plans to leverage the capabilities of its subsidiaries, LG Electronics and LG Energy Solution, to address these infrastructure challenges.
Cooling systems meet rising heat demands
LG Electronics will supply large-capacity cooling solutions to key strategic AI data centers. The company’s product lineup includes large chillers, cooling distribution units, and cold plates that directly absorb heat from server processors. In a related move, LG Electronics was selected as an inaugural partner in NVIDIA’s AI Factory ecosystem. Its 600 kW cooling distribution unit passed verification in July, highlighting the growing importance of thermal management in high-performance computing environments.
Energy storage supports power stability
LG Energy Solution is expanding its battery energy storage system business to handle the rapid power load fluctuations caused by AI servers. The company was also named a founding partner in NVIDIA’s DSX Ready program, which selects power and cooling products that meet specific performance requirements. This dual partnership with Microsoft and NVIDIA underscores the shift in AI infrastructure priorities, where reliable energy delivery is as critical as processing power.
Prefabricated modules speed up deployment
The partnership also includes plans for prefabricated data centers. This approach involves assembling modules containing power, cooling, and server racks in factories before on-site installation. While this reduces construction time and enables rapid scalability, it requires precise engineering to ensure that pre-built components integrate seamlessly with existing site infrastructure. The long-term goal is to create a standardized, scalable model for AI facility expansion.
