New Idle RPG Launches on Steam

A new pixel-art game designed to run in the background aims to blend classic role-playing depth with low-effort management.
One Interactive Studio and publisher Infini Fun have announced that Duelist: Idle Expedition will arrive on Steam on October 8, 2026. The game is built for players who want to see progress without active input, allowing a virtual guild to fight and grow while the user focuses on other tasks.
According to GN technics/gaming (en-US), the title is designed to live in the system taskbar. This means the game continues to operate in the background, letting players recruit characters and manage resources during work breaks or while using other applications, rather than requiring constant attention.
Progress Runs in Background
The core mechanic relies on a dual-progression loop. On the front lines, battles happen automatically, while behind the scenes, camp management tasks continue. Players can build a squad from 91 unique roles across seven main classes, each with hand-drawn animations. The trade-off is that while the game is convenient, it requires players to trust the automated system to make effective decisions without real-time intervention.
The developers emphasize that the game is suitable for busy professionals or those who prefer secondary-screen entertainment. However, the idle nature means that strategic depth is limited to pre-battle setup and resource allocation, rather than moment-to-moment tactical execution.
Camp Management Adds Depth
Beyond combat, the game features a camp management system where players run a tavern, blacksmith, and shop. There are over 200 pieces of equipment to collect, including class-exclusive legendary items that can be enchanted. This system allows players to customize their builds significantly, though it adds a layer of complexity that may appeal more to enthusiasts of detailed simulation mechanics than casual players.
Defeating rivals earns followers and unlocks new combat styles, adding strategic layers to the progression. The game supports 31 languages, including English, Japanese, and German, making it accessible to a global audience. The catch is that while the systems are deep, they are entirely passive, meaning players must engage with the menu systems to optimize their setup rather than reacting to dynamic in-game events.
