Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has positioned cybersecurity as the next critical frontier for artificial intelligence. While AI currently assists with routine tasks like drafting emails or writing code, Huang argues that the technology’s ability to generate software at scale also gives it the power to identify vulnerabilities and exploit them. This shifts the focus from AI as a passive helper to an active participant in a constant security struggle.

Huang describes this as one of the most compute-intensive applications in the AI landscape, where models must continuously probe, respond, and close gaps in real-time. Security becomes a continuous workload

Huang’s logic rests on the nature of coding. Since software has a binary outcome of working or failing, AI excels at finding bugs. By extension, the same capabilities that allow AI to write code enable it to find security holes. This compresses the timeline between shipping a product and it being infiltrated, forcing defenders to operate at the same speed as attackers.

CrowdStrike’s internal research supports this urgency, noting an 89% jump in AI-enabled attacks with breakout times as low as 27 seconds. In this environment, a security tool that waits for user prompts is insufficient. The market is moving toward systems that act autonomously and continuously, requiring significant computational power to maintain.

Platform depth drives recurring value

Unlike general-purpose AI labs that build models for broad reasoning, CrowdStrike sells a specialized platform called Falcon. This cloud-native system began with endpoint protection and has expanded into cloud security, identity protection, and threat intelligence. This modular approach allows the company to deepen its presence within corporate networks over time.

The trade-off for this strategy is reliance on existing customer relationships. CrowdStrike leverages its initial foothold to cross-sell additional modules, resulting in high retention and recurring revenue. As of the first quarter, over half of its customers used six or more modules, indicating a sticky, integrated product ecosystem that is harder to replace than standalone tools.

Financial growth meets technical risk

CrowdStrike reported annual recurring revenue of $5.5 billion, a 24% increase year over year. This growth reflects the expanding scope of its security stack and the increasing complexity of AI-driven threats. However, the company faces the challenge of maintaining performance in a rapidly evolving threat landscape where AI capabilities are advancing quickly on both offensive and defensive sides.

The catch for investors and users alike is the high cost of maintaining such a comprehensive, always-on defense system. While the platform offers robust protection, it requires significant ongoing investment and integration. As AI continues to rewrite the rules of software development, the gap between those who can afford continuous, intelligent defense and those who cannot is likely to widen.
