China’s UN representative Fu Cong explicitly asserted that Resolution 2231 expired in October 2025, arguing that the Security Council has ended its consideration of the nuclear issue and that the snapback mechanism is invalid. Additionally, regional tensions escalated as the IRGC Navy reported striking a Togo-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, while Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis exchanged fresh cross-border strikes.
