Waaree Green Data Centers has incorporated two new wholly-owned entities to expand its footprint in the rapidly growing data center market, focusing on AI-ready infrastructure and international growth.

Waaree Green Data Centers Private Limited, a subsidiary of Indian renewable energy firm Waaree Renewable Technologies, has officially incorporated two new subsidiaries: Aurovault Data Centers and Sunstar Data Centers. Both entities are wholly owned by Waaree Green Data Centers, which subscribed to their memoranda of association for cash consideration. This move signals a strategic push to broaden its operational scope beyond its current capabilities.

The primary objective of these new ventures is to develop, finance, and operate hyperscale, AI-ready, and edge data centers. While Aurovault Data Centers is designated to handle a wide range of services including colocation, cloud connectivity, and high-performance computing, Sunstar Data Centers was incorporated on September 11, 2026, with a similar mandate. Neither company is currently operational, meaning they are in the preparatory phase of their business lifecycle.

Scope of New Infrastructure Services

Aurovault Data Centers is set to offer a comprehensive suite of digital infrastructure services. These include managed hosting, internet exchange facilities, network management, and disaster recovery solutions. The entity also plans to establish digital infrastructure parks and colocation facilities, targeting both domestic and international markets. This breadth of service suggests an intent to capture multiple segments of the data economy, from basic storage to advanced computing needs.

A significant portion of the planned services focuses on artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. Specifically, the subsidiary aims to provide AI infrastructure, GPU hosting, and business continuity solutions. This specialization indicates a recognition of the increasing demand for specialized hardware capable of handling complex computational tasks, which standard data centers may not support efficiently.

Market Growth and Capacity Projections

This expansion aligns with broader trends in the Indian data center sector. Industry projections indicate that the market’s capacity will surge from 4.48 gigawatts in 2025 to 15.21 gigawatts by 2031. This growth is largely driven by hyperscalers pre-committing to large capacity blocks and signing long-term power purchase agreements. The sector is experiencing a period of rapid scaling to meet the rising demand for cloud and AI services.

Operational Status and Trade-offs

Despite the ambitious scope, it is crucial to note that neither Aurovault nor Sunstar is currently operational. They are newly incorporated entities without an active track record. The primary trade-off for investors and clients is the execution risk associated with building new infrastructure from the ground up. This includes challenges related to construction timelines, regulatory approvals, and the high capital expenditure required to bring such facilities online. The success of this expansion will depend on the company’s ability to navigate these logistical and financial hurdles while competing in a increasingly crowded market.
