VW Electric Van Completes 92-Country Journey Without Breakdown

Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz has secured a Guinness World Record for visiting 92 countries on a single battery-powered journey, covering nearly 100,000 kilometers over 445 days. The series-production van completed the trip without mechanical failure, with its battery retaining over 95% health, demonstrating the durability of electric vehicles in extreme global conditions.
According to GN auto tech/ev, the ID. Buzz completed the expedition in a series-production LWB model with an 86 kWh battery, requiring over 300 charging cycles and 16 container shipments to traverse the globe. Post-trip inspections by TÜV Nord confirmed the high-voltage battery retained 95.75% health, while driver Rainer Zietlow highlighted that electric drivetrains avoid common issues like diesel fuel contamination and engine overheating encountered in remote regions.
