A new subscription service claims to automatically unlock higher frame rates for PC gamers, but independent tests suggest the real-world gains are significantly lower than advertised.

Compready, a Miami-based company, has launched Hypertune, a software designed to automatically optimize gaming PCs. The tool analyzes a user’s processor, graphics card, and memory to adjust settings without requiring manual expertise. While the company claims the software can deliver up to 60 percent more frames per second, independent benchmarks indicate that actual performance gains typically range between 4 and 28 percent.

The service operates on a subscription model rather than a one-time purchase, costing $9.99 per month. This pricing structure contrasts with traditional tuning utilities that users own permanently. The discrepancy between the advertised peak performance and the realistic average results is a key point of contention for potential buyers evaluating the cost versus benefit.

Intel supports the technical foundation

Hypertune is built upon Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility framework. According to reports, Intel engineers assisted Compready during the development phase, although Intel does not publish or operate the software itself. This distinction is important for consumers who might assume it is an official Intel product. The team behind the project includes Austin Copeland, who previously worked on performance optimization for professional esports, and well-known overclocker Pieter Plaisier.

Before its public release, the software underwent an extensive testing period lasting approximately eight months. During this phase, around 60,000 testers participated in the trial process. The company emphasizes that the tool is designed to be user-friendly, bundling multiple optimization steps that would otherwise require several different tools and a certain level of technical knowledge to implement manually.

Automated adjustments target multiple components

The software handles several areas of system performance simultaneously. It adjusts CPU overclocking through the Intel framework, tunes graphics card memory clocks and voltage, and optimizes memory latency. Additionally, it modifies Windows system settings and network configurations. The platform also includes specific profiles for popular games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and Fortnite, aiming to provide tailored settings for each title.

Compready states that all changes made by the software can be reverted using standard system restore points. The tool also claims compatibility with major anti-cheat systems used in competitive gaming, including Riot Vanguard and Valve’s Anti-Cheat. This compatibility is a significant selling point for players who are wary of third-party software potentially triggering security flags or bans.

Real-world gains differ from claims

While Compready advertises a maximum increase of 60 percent in frame rates, independent tests show a more modest improvement. The actual gains vary depending on the specific hardware and the game being played. In some cases, part of the perceived improvement comes from reduced graphics settings within the game hub rather than from the overclocking process itself. This means the visual quality of the game may be lowered to achieve the higher frame count.

The advertised 60 percent figure likely represents a best-case scenario rather than a typical outcome. Such peak numbers are common in marketing materials for tuning software but are rarely achieved in everyday use. For most users, the subscription provides a convenient way to manage system settings, but the performance boost should not be expected to match the headline figures.
