Samsung and Talus Launch Mobile Payment Suite

A new partnership merges Samsung hardware with Talus software to create a complete mobile business suite, offering merchants a single-device solution for payments and inventory.
Talus and Samsung Electronics America have announced the launch of ReadyPoint, a mobile point-of-sale solution that transforms standard Galaxy smartphones into full business operating hubs. The system, reported by GN auto tech/entertainment, integrates payment processing, inventory management, and customer engagement tools into a single device, removing the need for separate checkout counters.
The core of the service relies on Ingenico’s secure SoftPOS technology to enable tap-to-pay capabilities. By consolidating these functions, the platform aims to allow employees to conduct transactions anywhere, providing flexibility for businesses that operate in the field or wish to move away from fixed terminal locations.
Hardware and software integration
The solution is built specifically for rugged Samsung Galaxy devices, ensuring durability for on-the-go use. It supports multiple payment methods, including NFC tap-to-pay, camera-based barcode scanning, and manual card entry. This variety allows merchants to accept payments from customers using different payment preferences without requiring additional hardware.
Risk mitigation for merchants
A significant trade-off addressed by the platform is the issue of pooled risk in traditional payment services. Talus CEO Kim Fitzsimmons notes that in some environments, a single problematic merchant can jeopardize the accounts of others. ReadyPoint mitigates this by offering dedicated merchant accounts with instant approval, ensuring that one user’s issues do not impact the broader network.
Support and onboarding process
The company emphasizes that human support is a key differentiator. Instead of relying on automated chatbots or offshore agents, ReadyPoint provides 24/7 assistance from U.S.-based payments professionals. This approach aims to reduce the friction of onboarding and ensure that merchants receive clear, knowledgeable help when setting up or troubleshooting their systems.
