Samsung Display has introduced the first smartphone OLED panel to simultaneously support 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The 6.9-inch screen will debut in the iQOO 16, a high-performance device from Vivo’s gaming-focused brand. This release addresses a long-standing trade-off in mobile technology: previous high-refresh panels often sacrificed resolution to maintain speed, but this new component delivers both without increasing energy demands.

Brightness and Color Uniformity Upgrades
The panel reaches a peak brightness of 2,800 nits in high-brightness mode, suitable for outdoor visibility. Under specific conditions where only a small portion of the screen is active, it can peak at 10,000 nits. Samsung Display also applied AI-based optimization techniques developed over three years to ensure consistent luminance and color across the entire panel. Strategic Move Into Chinese Market
The iQOO 16, which features this panel, is expected to include Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor and a custom gaming chip from Vivo.
