Zoomlion entered its humanoid robots into sprint and jump competitions to stress-test their stability and control systems under demanding physical conditions.

Zoomlion Heavy Industry recently sent its independently developed humanoid robots to the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. The machines competed in three physically demanding events: the standing high jump, the 100-meter sprint, and the standing long jump. These competitions are not just about speed or strength; they serve as rigorous tests for the robots' gait algorithms, joint responsiveness, and overall stability during high-speed motion.

The company stated that the goal was to evaluate how well its full-stack capabilities—spanning algorithms, software, and hardware—hold up under complex control conditions. By performing consistently across all three events, the robots demonstrated the integration of their motion-control systems with AI algorithms, providing valuable data to refine their technology for real-world industrial applications.

Competition serves as a technical benchmark

Zeng Guang, general manager of Zoomlion's ZValley, explained that these events measure more than just physical output. They provide a broader assessment of the company's AI capabilities and its ability to deploy robots in unpredictable settings. Competing against teams from around the world allows Zoomlion to benchmark its technology against global standards, helping to refine its systems for greater reliability and adaptability.

The trade-off of such rigorous testing is the immediate need for robust hardware that can withstand repeated high-impact movements without failure. This stress-testing is critical because the data gathered directly informs the development of robots intended for factory floors, where precision and consistency are non-negotiable for safety and efficiency.

Robots handle precise factory tasks

Zoomlion has already deployed dozens of these humanoid robots in its smart factories. They perform a variety of tasks, including material sorting, cable-harness tying, component preassembly, and finished-product inspection. The bipedal model, the Z01, uses AI-powered imitation learning to organize randomly placed objects and tie cable harnesses with precision. Meanwhile, the wheeled Z03 handles precision processes like preassembling mirrors for industrial equipment, meeting the strict accuracy requirements of production lines.

These deployments are part of a larger ecosystem that includes over 300 intelligent production lines and more than 2,000 industrial robots running year-round. The real-world operating data from these machines feeds back into the company's AI models, creating a continuous cycle where technology enables deployment, and practical experience drives further development.

Full-stack development drives industrial adoption

Zoomlion positions itself as one of the few AI-native robotics companies that combines full-stack humanoid robot development with large-scale deployment. Its portfolio includes bipedal, wheeled, and quadruped robots, all backed by in-house capabilities ranging from core components to operating systems.
