Xiaomi Launches Compact Six-Stage Air Purifier for Small Spaces
Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Air Purifier 6C, a space-saving device designed for small apartments. It features a new six-stage filtration system and a higher airflow rate than its predecessors, though it drops support for third-party smart home platforms.
Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Air Purifier 6C, a compact device aimed at bedrooms and small apartments covering up to 68 square meters. The unit is designed to fit into tight spaces, occupying a footprint of just 0.063 square meters, which is only slightly larger than a standard sheet of A4 paper. Despite its small size, the manufacturer claims it delivers a clean air delivery rate of 603 cubic meters per hour, a figure that exceeds the performance of both the Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro and the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6.
The new model expands the filtration capabilities of its predecessor by adding a sixth stage to the existing five-stage system. This configuration includes a pre-filter, an antibacterial layer, a formaldehyde filter, a main filter, an activated carbon layer, and a UV sterilization system. According to reports from GN technics/smarthome (en-US), the device claims to remove 99% of formaldehyde within two hours. It also targets common allergens, with stated removal rates of 98% for cedar pollen and dust mites, and 99% for cat dander. The unit includes a circular display that shows real-time readings for formaldehyde, particulate matter, temperature, and humidity.
Smart home compatibility is restricted
A significant trade-off for users who rely on broader smart home ecosystems is the removal of third-party integration. Unlike the previous Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6, the new 6C model no longer supports Alexa or Google Home. Instead, it is locked into Xiaomi's own Mi Home ecosystem. This means that users who have built their smart homes around Amazon or Google platforms will lose the ability to control this specific device through their preferred voice assistants or automation routines.
While the device measures humidity, it does not offer humidification capabilities, which is a notable omission compared to the pricier Mijia Smart Air Purifier Pro. That higher-end model includes a humidifier and a quieter sleep mode operating at 14.6 decibels. In contrast, the 6C operates at a noise level of 30.4 decibels, which is noticeably louder. For those seeking a quiet background device for sleeping, the 6C may not be as effective as its larger, more expensive sibling.
Availability remains limited to China
The Mijia Air Purifier 6C is currently available for pre-order in China at a price of 1,099 yuan, which is approximately 164 US dollars. However, there is no confirmed timeline for an international release. The last model in this series to receive a global launch was the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6. Prospective buyers outside of China should note that independent verification of the manufacturer's performance claims is still pending, and global availability may depend on further regulatory and market decisions by Xiaomi.
