Salesforce Moves Core Infrastructure to Google Cloud

Salesforce is expanding its Hyperforce architecture beyond Amazon Web Services to include Google Cloud, aiming to reduce single-provider dependency and integrate AI agents more deeply.

Salesforce has announced a significant shift in its infrastructure strategy by moving its core Hyperforce platform onto Google Cloud. This move, revealed at the Dreamforce 2026 conference in San Francisco, marks the first time since the architecture launched on Amazon Web Services six years ago that another major provider is becoming a primary host. The partnership is not merely an API integration; it involves running Salesforce’s entire customer relationship management stack natively on Google’s servers.

General availability for North American users is scheduled for November 2026, with select customers beginning migrations as early as the fourth quarter of this year. The expansion allows AI agents from both companies to access and act on the same enterprise data without requiring custom integration work. This shift signals that even the largest software vendors are moving away from relying on a single cloud provider to mitigate risk and align with diverse enterprise needs.

Deepening Integration With Gemini Enterprise

The announcement connects Salesforce’s headless architecture directly with Google’s Gemini Enterprise platform. This integration enables AI agents to pull account histories, read analytics from Tableau, and update CRM records without developers writing custom middleware to bridge the two systems. Salesforce has also confirmed that Gemini models are now available as an option within its Agentforce platform, giving customers a broader choice of AI engines beyond Salesforce’s proprietary models.

Data sharing capabilities have also been expanded through a Zero Copy protocol between Salesforce Data Cloud and Google BigQuery. This allows each platform to query the other’s data without duplicating it, improving efficiency. Additionally, Salesforce Commerce Cloud will soon power shopping experiences within Google Search and the Gemini app, placing merchant data directly in front of Google’s consumer traffic. These changes create a tighter loop between enterprise data and consumer-facing AI tools.

Strategic Shift Away From Single Provider

While Amazon Web Services remains the primary cloud for Hyperforce, the assumption that Salesforce runs exclusively on one dominant platform is changing. Enterprise customers often standardize on specific cloud providers for regulatory or procurement reasons, and limiting Salesforce to AWS alone can result in lost business opportunities. By bringing Google Cloud on board as a first-class host, Salesforce addresses these customer preferences and reduces the risk associated with a single point of failure.

This diversification strategy pressures both AWS and Microsoft Azure at a time when enterprise spending on AI agents is accelerating. The move reflects a broader industry trend where large software vendors seek flexibility to serve customers across different cloud ecosystems. It also highlights the growing importance of interoperability in AI-driven business processes, where the ability to seamlessly share and act on data across platforms is becoming a critical competitive advantage.

Rollout Plans And Regional Expansion

The rollout will be progressive, starting with North America in late 2026. Germany is named as the next region for availability in 2027, with additional countries to follow as the infrastructure scales. This phased approach allows Salesforce and Google Cloud to address regional compliance requirements and infrastructure needs while maintaining service stability. The expansion underscores a long-term commitment to multi-cloud support, ensuring that Salesforce’s core platform remains accessible and efficient across major global markets.
