Suffolk Technologies Selects Seven Startups for Construction Tech Accelerator

Seven early-stage companies have been chosen to join Suffolk Technologies' seventh annual accelerator, aiming to integrate AI and hardware into the physical construction sector.
Suffolk Technologies has announced the seven startups selected for BOOST 7, its seventh annual accelerator program focused on transforming the built environment. The 2026 cohort includes companies working across construction operations, artificial intelligence, robotics, and sustainability. This group is set to participate in an eight-week intensive program designed to help early-stage founders bridge the gap between digital innovation and physical infrastructure.
The selection process was notably competitive, with applications increasing by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year. This surge created the largest applicant pool in the program’s history. Among the chosen teams are Airwave, Bear, Forma Systems, Memo, Scale Immersive, Tessi, and Tubender. Each company brings a distinct approach to solving complex challenges in construction and real estate, ranging from automated safety documentation to code-first building information modeling platforms.
Integrating Digital Tools Into Physical Work
The core objective of BOOST is to help these startups move beyond theoretical concepts and into real-world adoption. As reported by GN technics/hardware, the program provides direct access to Suffolk’s network of more than 60 operating partners. This access is critical for early-stage firms that often struggle to find initial customers and pilot sites. By connecting technology developers with established industry players, the accelerator aims to accelerate the deployment of tools that improve efficiency and safety on job sites.
One of the selected companies, Airwave, is developing smart safety glasses that allow workers to capture video and photos hands-free. These devices also offer voice-based question-and-answer capabilities and automated inspection documentation. Another participant, Bear, is building a code-first AI platform that transforms project data into executable models. This tool is intended to streamline visualization, engineering, and procurement processes, reducing the manual effort typically required in construction planning.
New Leadership Guides Program Evolution
This cohort marks a significant shift in program management, with Jennifer Davis joining as the first Executive Director. Davis brings five years of experience leading Techstars Boston to the role. Her appointment is intended to refine the founder experience and strengthen engagement with the partner network. Her background in tech entrepreneurship is expected to provide a structured approach to the program’s curriculum and business development support.
The program will culminate in a Demo Day event on November 18, 2026, held at Suffolk’s headquarters in Boston. This event coincides with the third annual Boston Built Week. For the participating startups, this final presentation is a crucial milestone, offering visibility to potential investors and industry stakeholders. The stakes are high, as success in the accelerator often determines the long-term viability of these early-stage ventures.
Addressing Industry Efficiency Gaps
The construction industry faces persistent challenges related to material waste, safety incidents, and design inefficiencies. Forma Systems, one of the selected startups, aims to address these issues by automating preliminary engineering for structural optimization. Their platform seeks to create code-compliant designs that reduce material use and cost, starting with precast concrete. Similarly, Memo is developing a voice interface that connects to existing jobsite radios, allowing field workers to convert everyday voice communications into actionable alerts and tasks.
While the technology promises significant improvements, the trade-off for these startups is the intense pressure of the eight-week timeline. They must demonstrate tangible progress and secure pilot opportunities with major partners within a short period. The integration of advanced hardware and AI into traditional construction workflows requires rigorous testing and adaptation. The success of this cohort will serve as a test case for how well digital intelligence can be embedded into the physical world of building and infrastructure.
