Owners of the screenless Garmin Cirqa are reporting that their exercise records are disappearing immediately after they finish a session. The issue stems from a specific way of ending the workout, leaving users with missing health data.

The screenless design of the Garmin Cirqa was meant to simplify tracking, but a recent software glitch is complicating that promise. Many users report that their workout logs vanish the moment they stop the session. This happens despite the device vibrating to confirm the end command was received, creating a confusing disconnect between the physical action and the digital record.

Reports surfaced on Garmin's support forums reveal a specific pattern in the failures. The problem occurs when a user starts an activity using the physical button on the tracker but attempts to finish it through the Garmin Connect app on their phone. In these cases, the session does not appear in the user's history. As one frustrated member noted, starting the activity with the button seems to mandate ending it with the button as well.

The workaround requires manual intervention

Garmin representatives have acknowledged the bug and provided a temporary solution on the support forums. If the Connect app displays an 'Activity in Progress' prompt instead of saving the data immediately, users should select 'Resume' rather than 'End.' This action opens the full recording screen, allowing the user to manually stop and save the activity. Once saved and synced, the workout should appear in the user's history as expected.

The company confirmed that several users have lost data after selecting the initial 'End' option from the prompt. A representative stated that feedback has been shared internally for review and that the team is gathering additional information from affected users. However, no specific timeline has been announced for a permanent software patch, leaving users to rely on this manual workaround for the time being.

Broader compatibility issues for Garmin devices

This glitch arrives alongside another compatibility issue affecting Garmin Fenix 9 owners using Mac computers. The Garmin Express app, used for software updates and map installation, is incompatible with the latest macOS release. This is because the app requires Apple’s Rosetta 2 translation layer, which has been removed from newer systems. While most functions can be managed via the Connect app, the inability to update maps directly on a Mac adds to the frustration for users.

Uncertainty over the timeline for a fix

While Garmin is working on resolving the macOS compatibility issue, the Cirqa workout bug may take longer to fix. The lack of a confirmed date for the patch means users must remain vigilant. To avoid losing data, owners are advised to start and end all workouts using the physical button on the device itself. Alternatively, they must carefully follow the manual resume-and-save process in the app to ensure their exercise history remains intact.
