VinFast Opens Three US Dealerships This September

Three new locations in California and Pennsylvania will begin operating this month, adding local service points and expanding the certified pre-owned program.
VinFast is set to open three new dealerships in the United States starting this September. The locations will be established in Redondo Beach and Tustin in California, as well as Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. These franchises will provide a direct channel for customers to access sales consultations, routine maintenance, and warranty support without needing to travel to distant service centers.
The expansion marks a significant step in the company's North American strategy, aiming to deepen its presence in key markets. By bringing service capabilities closer to consumers, VinFast intends to improve the overall ownership experience. The move also coincides with an expansion of its Certified Pre-Owned program, which offers extended warranty coverage to make electric vehicle ownership more predictable and secure.
Local Access to Service and Sales
The new branches will allow buyers to view and test drive the company’s two main electric SUV models, the VF 8 and the VF 9, in person. This physical presence is crucial for building trust with potential customers who may prefer to inspect vehicles before purchasing. Additionally, existing owners will have easier access to aftersales support, ensuring that maintenance issues can be resolved efficiently within their local communities.
Extended Warranty for Used Vehicles
A key component of this rollout is the enhancement of the Certified Pre-Owned program. This initiative provides buyers of used electric vehicles with factory-backed warranty coverage of up to ten years. According to reports from GN auto tech/ev: electric vehicle, this long-term coverage is designed to reduce the financial risk associated with buying a used EV. It addresses a common concern regarding battery longevity and long-term repair costs by offering a guaranteed safety net.
The program also includes financing options with low interest rates, making the transition to electric transportation more financially accessible. By combining rigorous vehicle inspections with substantial warranty terms, VinFast aims to create a more confident buying environment. This approach is intended to optimize the total cost of ownership for customers, ensuring that the initial purchase price is not the only factor considered.
Commitment to Long-Term Growth
Brian Finnerty, CEO of VinFast North America, described the expansion as a long-term commitment to the U.S. market rather than a short-term tactical move. The company emphasizes that strengthening its service network is central to its growth phase. This strategy focuses on building a sustainable infrastructure that supports customers throughout their entire ownership journey, from initial purchase to long-term maintenance.
However, the trade-off for this expansion is the continued reliance on a growing physical footprint to support a relatively new brand in a competitive market. While the increased service coverage reduces inconvenience for owners, the long-term success of these dealerships will depend on VinFast's ability to maintain consistent service quality and manage inventory effectively. The company’s goal remains to make electric vehicles more accessible, but the execution of this local service model will be critical to retaining customer confidence.
